The tall ships arrived in Chicago today for the weekend festival.

Unfortunately, one of them clipped one of the drawbridges, breaking the masts!

We moved - finally! We've been in the new loft for a full 24 hours now. Total box count: who knows. The move took five hours, and only two trips in the freight elevator at the new place (one of the benefits of living in a former warehouse). Another benefit is the concrete that separates our units from the others - not only does it provide great sound-proofing but it also keeps it nice and cool in here. The boys did not enjoy the move - in fact, when we arrived here they were downright mean! Bailey spent the afternoon hising in the guest room closet while Morgan found a way to get up on the ductwork (we have no idea how he got up there).

A friend at work pointed me to the 800 x 600 project. This site challenges you to create a collage made up of 64 pictures that are 100 pixels by 75 pixels (thereby creating a collage that is 800 x 600 - hence the name!). In a break from packing over the weekend, I created and submitted one from the Santorini pics. I need to play with it a bit more, but version 1 turned out pretty cool.

We're packing for the move - current box count: 26. We're not bringing everything though - some things are being sold, including this unique item (buyer paid $76!).

We're (supposedly) closing on the new condo next week and had our final walkthrough today. The new building is in one of those "regentrification" neighborhoods but we love it. Here's a picture of the lobby, our own hypostle hall :)

We were blown away at the progress - we had to really concentrate to find things to add to the punch list. We LOVE the kitchen.

BUT - we hadn't even seen the roof amenities! There's a 1/4 mile running track and plenty of room for sunning. AND a killer view of the city.

We've decided the camera phone is perfect for cat pictures. The don't realize you are taking their picture so they can't run away or close their eyes.

Interesting ways we use the Nokia (in addition to tourist snapshots).

    • take a picture of a wine label or book cover you want to remember

    • take a picture of someones nametag to remember their name

    • take a picture of a subway sign, to remember where you need to get back to

    • take a picture of the outside of your hotel, to show a cab driver "take me here"

    • take a picture of a restaurant sign or menu, to remember the name of the restaurant

    • use the conversion utiilty to convert temperature, distances, and weights

    • use the alarm clock to notify you when it is time to flip over when tanning

    • use the audio recorder to record foreign words

    • use the video recorder to capture things like "ocean water aerobics"
