The last part of our mobile camping safari brought us to Xigera Tented Camp, deep, DEEP in the Okavango Delta. The camp was the most basic of the ones we visited, but the wildlife, scenery, mokoros, and staff made this our favorite for sure. The punctual pachyderms that feasted on trees outside our dome tent each night more than made up for the evil long drop toilet.

Another fun find from the little audio recorder: a purring (or maybe growling) lion !
If I remember correctly, this clip came from a night game drive at Kirkman’s Kamp. It was just after dusk and we were following a pride of six lions, except there turned out to be WAY more lions than initially reported. The Land Cruisers are completely open, so it was a little unnerving when more and more...

The more I dig through my files, the more things I find that I completely forgot about.
For example, I remembered that I have an entire audio recorder full of random sounds from South Africa and Botswana. It took me a while to figure out how to remove the files, but once I did I found some GREAT audio clips.
The first one of interest is some very worked up chimps at the Jane Goodall Sanctuary...
