Gorilla trek #1
On December 25th, we trekked to the Amahoro group and had our first face-to-face encounter with mountain gorillas.

On December 26th, we trekked to the Sabyinyo group and, though we weren't expecting it, were rewarded with an even better encounter than the previous day!

After an action-packed layover in Nairobi, we spend three feline-filled days visiting the Masai Mara.
 

For Christmas 2006 we visited Rwanda to see the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans). This is one of those trips that we'd always thought would be great to do, and after last year's trip to Kenya and Tanzania we decided what the heck.
