You'd expect more than 20 pictures
from me on a trip to China, but this was a business trip so
photo ops were definitely limited. This trip included visits
to Beijing, Nanjing, and Taipei. You can read my journal entries
(and see the cameraphone pictures) here
(it's chronological so you'll have to scroll up on that page).
I didn't get to see the "delicacies
on a stick" that I read about and wanted to see.
I didn't do any shopping either. I did, however, get to spend
a lot of time at the Forbidden City (a.k.a. the Palace
Museum). I actually got to go inside the Hall of Supreme
Harmony, the Palace of Earthly Tranquility, and several private
living quarters. This is apparently quite rare. It felt odd
to be inside with the crowds of people staring in the windows
and it was also very strange entering and exiting these areas
because the crowds would try to rush the doors to get inside.

In addition to the Forbidden City, I got to visit the Juyongguan
section of the Great Wall and the Summer Palace (would like
to return to both when I have more time).
In Nanjing, I literally saw the airport, the hotel, and the
Nanjing
Museum. I was fortunate enough to be able to go inside
their storage vaults and see case after case after case of
amazing artifacts.

In Taipei I experienced my first typhoon (Haitang),
saw Taipei
101, and visited the National
Palace Museum. The whole trip is somewhat of a blur, but
an intriguing blur for sure.
