Giverny was not on our original itinerary until we discovered it was not too far and figured out that just about everything there would be in bloom. It was definitely worth the easy train ride - the gardens were in full bloom (you can see the pollen in many of the photos). We actually had to buy a lens cloth to clean our cameras because they were covered in pollen - try pantomiming that to the store clerk that speaks no English!
