Andy had a work trip to Rhode Island, so we decided to make a weekend of it. The flight from Providence was quite an adventure! I'd never flown in a Cessna before - so when the took my backpack and stowed it in the wing I was a little surprised.

I had the seat right in back of the pilot, and to be clear, the seats were so close I had to sit kinda sideways because my knees were in the pilot's back.

We stayed at the Hawthorne House inn - great location, right in town and a 10 minute walk to Jetties Beach. Our room had a private bath and window air conditioning unit, which we actually used a few times because it was very humid.

We had 1.5 days of sun and 1.5 days of fog/overcast, which made for some great New England-y pictures. We rented a Geo Tracker and explored the island one day. Drove all the way out to Great Point lighthouse, which is at the end of this hook-shaped spit of land - very cool drive over the sand with the Atlantic on one side and Nantucket Sound on the other. We also relaxed on the beach one afternoon at Jetties Beach and one morning at Brant Point Beach, which has a great view of boat traffic coming in and out of the harbor.

We ate lobster every night, three very different experiences. The first night we ate at Straight Wharf, a fairly upscale restaurant on the wharf with a nice view of the harbor. The lobster was served out of the shell in some sort of reduction sauce with diced potatoes, corn, and lima beans. The second night we at at Captain Toby's (near the Straight Wharf restaurant). The lobster was served in the shell (although it didn't require too much work) with new potatoes, corn on the cob, and johnny cake. The last night we ordered lobster from the Straight Wharf fish market. The lobster was boiled, cracked, and rolled in butcher paper to-go. This is the most user-friendly lobster I've ever encountered - basically no work required and the meat was to die for.

We'd definitely return!
