For the 4th of July in 2006 we
visited Yosemite National Park in California. When we planned
this trip in back April/May, most of the lodging in the park
was already booked. THe only lodging available at that time
was "Camp Curry" which we decided against because
it didn't have electricity and was "great for families".
We ended up staying in Oakhurst, which is about a half hour
from the park gate and over an hour from the Valley. It was
a long drive, but when we saw Camp Curry we were absolutely
certain that we made the right decision. I wouldn't have lasted
there more than one night. At least the drive had nice views
:)

Yosemite Valley
You can view
our journal entries for day-by-day notes and cameraphone
pictures. We visited the main points of interest - Yosemite
Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Vernal Falls, Glacier Point, and
Tuolomne Meadow. We also did a lot of roadside exploring looking
for shaded waterfalls and creeks on which to practice long
exposure photography (which explains the 10 pictures on the
right side of this page). The weather was absolutely beautiful
and the crowds weren't as bad as we anticipated. We'll be
back during other seasons for sure.
